Tiritiri Matangi Island ex Auckland
Full Day including Guided Walk
Price from £37 per person
Surrender your senses to the beauty and magic of Tiritiri Matangi Island, situated in the Hauraki Gulf and only a 75minute ferry trip from Auckland via Gulf Harbour. From the moment you step onto the island to the moment you leave, you will be entranced by the serenade of gentle birdsong and the lush native bush. Tiritiri Matangi is one of the world’s most successful volunteer conservation projects. It has been re-vegetated with around 300,000 native trees and consequently 12 of New Zealand’s endangered birds and 3 reptile species have been re-introduced.
Board your 360 Discovery vessel Tiri Kat at Pier 4, Quay Street, Auckland, to commence a full day Wildlife Discovery tour to Tiritiri Matangi Island. Tiri Kat is a twin engine catamaran with a fully enclosed main lower cabin, open rear and top viewing decks and a half enclosed mid deck. Tiritiri Matangi Island is one of the world's most successful conservation projects. Managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in partnership with Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi, the island’s “open sanctuary” status allows the public to visit and see some of New Zealand's most endangered birds and rare wildlife in their natural habitat. The guided walks provide expert commentary on both the animal life and the historical and archaeological features of the island. Various look-out points along the walking tracks offer spectacular views of the Hauraki Gulf. Afterwards, re-board Tiri Kat for a return cruise to Auckland.
Operates: Wednesday to Sunday (including Public Holidays with the exception of Christmas Day)
