Day 1: Sydney to Hunter Valley (NM)
Cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge and head north, via the Pacific Highway and National Highway 1 to Cessnock, regional hub and proud gateway to the Hunter Valley Wine Country. From here you can experience the boutique and world renowned wineries, fine food, varied activities and country lifestyle of Australia’s oldest wine producing region.

Day 2: Hunter Valley to Port Stephens (NM)
Travel northeast to Port Stephens via the towns of Kurri Kurri and Hexham. Port Stephens is a natural bay two and a half times the size of Sydney Harbour and almost enclosed by two dormant volcanic headlands. Join a half day dolphin cruise, explore the giant sand dunes of Stockton Beach on a 4WD tour, visit the Inner Lighthouse for a spectacular view or take a leisurely walk around Nelson Bay.

Day 3: Port Stephens to Coffs Harbour (NM)
Continue north on the Pacific Highway through Taree and on to Port Macquarie. Enjoy a break at one of the ocean beaches at this relaxed harbour town, visit the Koala Hospital or explore the Rainforest Centre. Take a detour to the pretty country town of Bellingen before visiting the Dorrigo World Heritage National Park. At the visitor centre you can walk the Skywalk over the forest canopy or alternatively follow one of the walking tracks through the park.

Day 4: Coffs Harbour to Byron Bay (NM)
From Coffs Harbour the Pacific Highway passes through the graceful old country town of Grafton and the fishing town of Ballina to Byron Bay. Once a sleepy country town, Australia’s eastern-most point is today an eagerly sought-after holiday address. It has wonderful beaches with some of the best surf in Australia and a wide selection of cafes, bars, art galleries, shops and markets.
Overnight: Victoria’s at Ewingsdale, Byron Bay
Day 5: Byron Bay to the Gold Coast (NM)
Continue north on the Pacific Highway through Tweed Heads and cross the border into Southern Queensland. The Gold Coast is a place of wonderful contrast and within 30 minutes drive of the spectacular surf beaches, thrilling theme parks and enticing shops is a hidden oasis of greenery. The hinterland district boasts World Heritage listed national parks, waterfalls, subtropical rainforest and an unparalleled diversity of animal species.
Overnight: O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat, Lamington National Park
Day 6: Gold Coast to Brisbane (NM)
With only a short drive to Brisbane, there is plenty of time to enjoy the spectacular natural scenery and attractions of Lamington National Park. Watch the bird feeding at sunrise, take a walk through the treetops 16 metres above the forest floor, or explore the Botanical Gardens. Visit the Canungra Valley Vineyards and make a stop in Mount Tamborine to browse through the art and craft shops of Gallery Walk before reaching Brisbane.
