Lakeshore, Forest & Bird - Guided Walk

Half Day Tour

Price from £56 per person

A Guided Walks New Zealand Ltd vehicle will pick you up from your hotel for your transfer to the departure point of your tour. At 8.00am or 1.30pm join your guides to commence a half day Lakeshore Forest and Bird walk. This guided walk is a unique nature interpretative experience. A full commentary is given and photo stops made while travelling the short distance by road to the start of this walk. The walk begins at a leisurely pace in native shrub and beech forest, and the track leads down through the forest to the edge of Lake Wakatipu. Great views can be had looking out through the trees and over the water to the mountains beyond. Enjoy morning or afternoon tea/coffee on the lake shore to the sounds of native bird calls and surrounded by majestic mountains. The walk combines the best of native flora and fauna, with magnificent lake and mountain views. As the flora is protected from the elements in this area, the species are much larger. Native birds are readily seen and heard in and around the edges of the forest. You will be introduced by your guide to an array of edible and medicinal plants used by the early Maori and European settlers. The track is good but uneven and winds around the lake shore with the option of a steeper climb to a lookout with magnificent views in all directions (walking time 2 to 3 hours, walking distance 2 to 5 kilometres).
