Cape Reinga Fly/Drive (Aeroplane)

Half Day Tour

Price from £225 per person

A unique and memorable experience of the Bay of Islands and Northland from the air with spectacular coastline views and island scenery. This Salt Air guided fly/drive tour will leave you with an appreciation of the local history, culture and coastal environment that is uniquely Northland.

Boarding at Kerikeri Airport, the initial stage of the tour consists of a flight up to Cape Reinga via Northland's spectacular west coast harbours and its beautiful beaches, including the famous Ninety Mile Beach. The aircraft then lands and participants board a comfortable, air-conditioned mini-bus on a 2½ hour guided ground tour exploring the very top of New Zealand. After a 20 minute drive, the bus arrives at the Cape Reinga Lighthouse, where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean in spectacular fashion. A local guide will accompany you on your walk to the lighthouse, sharing the myths and legends of this very spiritual area. You then rejoin the vehicle for a short drive to Tapotupotu Bay where freshly baked light refreshments are enjoyed, along with time for a stroll on the beach, and a quick swim if desired. The group then moves across to the Te Paki quicksand stream with its giant sand dunes to experience the exhilaration of sand tobogganing. The return flight to the Bay of Islands is via the east coast and includes some of the most spectacular coastal scenery Northland has to offer. You will fly over Parengarenga Harbour and Great Exhibition Bay. This remote area is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand, with it's pure white silica sand and crystal clear water; much of it is accessible only by sea or air. Fly on over Houhora Harbour, the Cavalli Islands, Kauri Cliffs golf course, and the spectacular Bay of Islands. Tour concludes at Kerikeri Airport.
