Cook Islands
Unhurried, unspoilt and unforgettable, the Cook Islands have a tranquillity that is matched only by the people themselves and balmy year round temperatures of around 26 degrees. The main exports reveal the character of this island paradise: coconuts, pineapples, mother-of-pearl.
The main island of Rarotonga is home to both the capital Avarua and the international airport. Only 32 km in circumference and almost entirely encircled by a reef, the island is dominated by high mountain peaks. Easily accessible by scenic flight, the idyllic island of nearby Aitutaki boasts a spectacular lagoon. It is located 259 kms north of Rarotonga and is easily accessible on the 40 minute flight which operates three times a day (except Sunday).
- Hire a scooter to explore the island
- Visit Aitutaki
- Take a lagoon cruise
- Experience an evening of Cook Islands food and dance
