A Canterbury Leisure Tours vehicle will pick you up from your hotel for your transfer to the departure point of your tour.
At 9.00am join your coach to commence a full day Akaroa Day Tour. The tour heads off to the beautiful and unspoilt old French whaling depot of Akaroa via Sign of Takahe, Sign of Kiwi, Governers Bay, Gebbies Pass, Lake Forsyth and Little River. Stop at the Hill Top to experience panoramic views of Akaroa Harbour and then visit the cheese factory at Barry's Bay to sample some fine New Zealand cheese before arriving in Akaroa – a slice of authentic French village life in Canterbury. Lunch is taken at the popular Bully Hayes restaurant, right on the waterfront in a picturesque setting. In the afternoon, enjoy a two hour Akaroa Harbour Cruise on the Canterbury Cat exploring the delights of Akaroa Harbour and sighting dolphins, penguins and seals. After the cruise is complete and on the return journey to Christchurch a stop is made at Birdling Flat on the Kaitorete Spit. This stony beach at the entrance to Lake Forsyth provides a commanding view of the southern facing cliffs of Banks Peninsula; an interesting selection of pebbles and semi-precious stones can be found on the beach.
Tour concludes at approximately 5.00pm, at which time hotel drop offs will commence.
