Tonga

The ancient Kingdom of Tonga, the oldest and last remaining Polynesian Monarchy, is the only Pacific Island nation not to have been brought under foreign rule. It comprises a group of 176 coral and volcanic islands and is the first place on earth to greet the new day.

Tonga is divided into four, scenically diverse areas; the Tongatapu group in the South, with the capital Nuku'alofa; the Ha'apai group, a far flung archipelago of low coral islands and soaring volcanoes in the centre; the Vava'u group, a beautiful cluster of waterways and sparsely inhabited islets considered to be Tonga's sailing centre; and in the North, the isolated and volcanic Niua's. Our holidays include Fafa Island, off the coast of Tongatapu and Kapa Island, in the Vava'u group.
