Air New Zealand

Air New Zealand has been recognised for many years as providing the best and most innovative in-flight service of any of the world's airlines.  In early 2012 it was awarded the prestigious Air Transport World's "Airline of the Year" - the 3rd time it has won this in 3 years. Air New Zealand operates one stop services to New Zealand, as well as many of the Pacific Islands.  With a fleet of 102 modern aircraft is is continueing to evolve and shortly will introduce the B787 Dreamliner into it's route network.

Air New Zealand from London Heathrow 

Operating from London Heathrow Terminal 1 all flights to to New Zealand are via Los Angeles (daily) or Hong Kong (five times a week - no flights on Mondays or Thursdays). Exclusive to Air New Zealand is the ability to fly round-the-world on the same airline - fly out via Los Angeles and return via Hong Kong or vice versa. Within New Zealand the airline has the most extensive network serving all the major tourist regions.
Services through Los Angeles utilise B777-300 series aircraft and through Hong Kong on B777-200 series aircraft.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  In March 2013 Air New Zealand will cease all services between Hong Kong and London.  This will mean that all flights from the UK to New Zealand will be routed through Los Angeles.  This website will be updated once further details are known.

Star Alliance

Air New Zealand is a member of the Star Alliance which has 27 member airlines (Including Singapore Airlines, Thai International, South African Airways, Lufthansa, Air Canada and United Airlines).  The group operate 21,230 flights daily to 1290 destinations in 189 countries.  Round the World airfares are available on Star Alliance carriers with 3 to 15 stopovers available in all classes of travel.

Domestic and TransTasman Network

Air New Zealand operate the most extensive network of domestic flights throughout New Zealand.  Boeing 737 aircraft operate main trunk routes connecting the major cities and towns with turbu prop aircraft on the regional routes. All airfares out of London include onward connections to Wellington and Christchurch. Regular flights connect the major cities of New Zealand and Australia and more recently flights between Sydny and Queenstown and Sydney and Rotorua.

Air New Zealand operate Boeing 777 aircraft on their flghts out of London and also Boeing 767, 737 and Airbus 320 on the Pacific and Australia routes.  Flights through Los Angeles are on B777-300 aircraft which are fitted with the newer versions of seating in all classes.

The Pacific Islands

Air New Zealand offer the best connecting services to the islands of the South Pacific.

  • Fiji - Four services a week from Los Angeles using Air Pacific. Sat, Sun, Tues & Thurs.
  • French Polynesia (Tahiti) - Four services a week from Los Angeles using Air Tahiti Nui. Sun, Tues, Wed & Fri.
  • Cook Islands (Rarotonga) - weekly (Mondays) service from Los Angeles on Air New Zealand
  • Tonga and Vanuatu can be reached via Auckland
